Causes of Yeast Infections and Cures

Prevention is always the best cure and knowing the causes of yeast infections is essential to avoid it from happening. Some of the more common causes of yeast infections are too much heat, changes in the hormones, changes in the levels of sugar and sexual contact.
Other causes of yeast infections are the use of tight clothes especially those that are not made of cotton, certain chemicals and taking antibiotics. Even using condoms can also result to yeast infection. In addition, having improper hygiene can cause infection due to the presence of moisture.
Using irritants such as vaginal douches, bubble baths, harsh soaps and scented toilet papers as well as detergents used in washing undergarments can cause yeast infection.
You can treat yeast infection by using over the counter medications including antifungal creams. However, there are several natural alternative ways to cure yeast infection and one of the most common way is using a vinegar douche. Just mix one teaspoon of vinegar in one quart of warm water. Use this mixture as douche in order to bring back the natural ph balance of the vagina.
Another way to cure yeast infection is the use of hydrogen peroxide as douche. Mix two capfuls of hydrogen peroxide to one quart of warm water or add two capfuls of hydrogen peroxide to the bath and then soak.
You can also bring back the acidic levels of the vagina by using lemon juice. Mix one to two teaspoon of lemon juice to the bath water and soak.
Yogurt is also known to be effective in treating the infection because it contains good bacteria, which is beneficial in curing yeast infection. Just dip a tampon in yogurt and put inside the vagina then replace two to three times a day.
